It’s a small stall by gate C27 with just enough space for a pre-flight ice cream pit stop. You can also buy “pints on the fly” ($6.50), but good luck getting to your final destination with those still intact.

Edie Ames named President of airport restaurant group Tastes on the Fly

US. Airport restaurant group Tastes on the Fly has appointed Edie Ames to the newly-created role of President. Chicago native Ames, who has worked in the restaurant business for more than 30 years, was most recently Chief Executive of Los Angeles-based The Pie Hole. Edie Ames believes that “a hospitality concept should evolve as guests’ desires and expectations evolve”. Before that, she held a series of leadership roles including President of The Counter and Built Custom Burgers; Executive Vice President of Wolfgang Puck Catering; Chief Operating Officer of both Real Mex Restaurants and Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group; and President of Morton’s Restaurant Group.

SFO Bottle Ban?

The new rule will apply to airport restaurants, cafes, and vending machines. The ban is another data point in the simmering fervor over single-use PET bottles. Notably, it occurs against the backdrop of Coca-Cola and PepsiCo’s quiet July breakup with the Plastics Industry Assn. (PLASTICS). Learn More About JFK’s Future Bar-Packed Terminal

The revival of the long-dormant TWA terminal at John F. Kennedy Airport sounds absolutely wild: The renovation, which includes a hotel, is opening next month with an infinity pool overlooking the runway, a bar housed within a 1950s-era plane, and more than a dozen planned restaurants and bars. Vongerichten will open his 38th restaurant on the ground level of the hotel and he has partnered with airport restaurant operator Tastes on the Fly for the project.
